making impartial and fair judgements. Even though unconscious bias does not mean we are bad people but we need to learn how the experiences of our lives influence the way we make decisions as well as our ability to be fair and impartial to everybody.
Our work life may be negatively affected by unconscious bias. They affect the decisions that we make and the action we choose to take, such as those we choose to hire or dismiss, the way we communicate and interact with people of different races and religion, as well as social class. We also have to deal difficulties, conduct our performance evaluation or even consider our advice.
A subconscious bias causes us to favor certain groups of people that can result in complaints or work conflict derailing development. If it is not addressed properly it could result in discrimination-related lawsuits filed against a company. The company could be forced to pay a substantial settlement to settle the charges if the equality commission decides to find an element of merit to the claims.
